Bio

I am passionate about people's potential for growth and professional success. I see so many teams and individuals that are missing out on value because they're too busy being stuck in their own heads and frustrated with the people around them. My best days are when someone tells me they tried my advice and managed to finally get what they needed from their hiring managers, coworkers, employees or customers. When people truly understand how to get their own needs met while also building relationships with others, my work is done.

I am a frequent speaker and trainer for local, national and global companies and organizations on topics related to conflict resolution, negotiations, interpersonal effectiveness and career development. I teach extremely popular undergraduate and graduate level courses on career development and negotiations for class sizes ranging from 10-930 and have more than 25 years of experience leading, growing and motivating teams in HR, career services and non-profits. I have a strong track record of growing offices and helping under-performing departments improve their outcomes by implementing market-based, innovative programs and processes. I have also authored award-winning online and printed textbooks related to professional development and interpersonal effectiveness.

My specialties include managing generational differences, leveraging interpersonal style differences on teams, enjoying and promoting diversity, Millennial and Gen Z career development, negotiations, recruiting, onboarding, conflict resolution and women's leadership issues.
